AMAT
Based on an established background and presence on solar cell metallization and handling in general, AMAT recently developed one of the first fully automated assembly lines dedicated to shingled strings. The project focus was not only to provide a tool for 1800 wph throughput processing of PERC and bi-PERC cells of 1/5 and 1/6 shape and 180 um thickness, but to create a full process solution for the key elements of the CoO: the cell optimization to limit the paste consumption to 120mg, the ECA selection to reduce the consumption to below 15 mg/cell.
AMAT will apply these learnings in HighLite to realize (in WP4) a high throughput shingling tool able to reach 4000 wph handling on thin (down to 100um) SHJ cells . A special attention will be paid to the cutting
optimization and the cell layout and paste and ECA selection, to prove the reliability of the process at module level (in WP5). An ECA-compatible bussing unit will be realized, in order to limit the thermal stress related
to soldering of ribbons for string interconnection. Due to the superior passivation of the SHJ cells the laser related losses will be investigated by dedicated I-V tester able to process at lab scale cells and shingles (WP3).
